North Beach began in 1900 when it was platted. At first it was mainly a place for vacation cottages and local workers. By 1955, the Bay Bridge opened and brought easy access to the ocean resorts, thus, the tourist crowd shifted away from the western shore and the North Beach area. With the tourist crowd mostly dissapated, the area is mostly yearround residents who enjoy the beauty and serenity of the community.
