Even though Windsor became an incorporated town fairly recently, in 1992, it's beginnings came during the 1800's. It began as an agricultural town in this area of rolling hills and plains. One of the town settlers, Hiram Lewis, came from England and this topography reminded him greatly of his own English countryside around Windsor Castle. Thus, the town became known as Windsor.
