As early as 1860, people lived in the area, but it was then known as Mountain View. When a post office was established here, there was already another Mountain View in northern California. The area was mainly agricultural focusing on grapes, walnuts and apricots. Eventually citrus became the major crop. These ranchers and their families are the ones who kept Villa Park intact and preserved the lifestyle by organizing its incorporation with half-acre zoning
