Wetumpka was, at one time, predicted, along with Chicago, to be one of the fastest growing cities in the country. That was when river travel was the mode. Wetumpka means "rumbling waters" in the Creek Indian language. Situated at the joining of two rivers, the Coosa and the Talapoosa. We have canoing, Jasmine Hills Gardens, and Fort Toulouse where historical re-enactments are held periodically.
