1950 - 1975
In the 50s, 60s, and early 70s Rhodell was divided into three basic subdivisions. There was the area across the river at the bottom of the mountain. Then there was the other side of the river, which was considered the town which included commercial and residential areas. Then there was Tommy Creek Holler. From about 1954 to 1964 the families that lived across the river at the bottom of the mountain were Mr. Flijah and Mrs. Susie Harris and their family. Next to them were Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Nathaniel Radford and family. Next to them were Mr. Charles Hershel and Mrs. Cleola Radford and family. Next to them were Mr. Jim Yates and his son, Skipper. Next to him were Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Lillie Mae Radford who were the parents and grand parents of all the Radfords in the area. Next to them were Mrs. Thaxton and her two sons, Harvey and Tom. Next to them were Mr. Link and Mrs Rosetta. On each side of the road going all the way up Tommy Creek Holler were houses. At the end of Tommy Creek Holler was a coal mine.
