Here is a history page for Dunbar.

The areas of White City, Rowan and Rochelle were combined and incorporated as Dunbar on 19 April 1921. It is believed the town was named for a local lawyer, Dunbar Baines, but others feel it was named for the Dunbar Tract from the George Washington family.
