Here is a history page for Colonial Beach with both information and pictures.
Colonial Beach quickly became a "tourist attraction" with its beachers and waterfront properties. By the late 1800's, many Victorian homes and hotels were built. Alexander Graham Bell was one of the towns early residents. He, among others, used Colonial Beach as a summer retreat.
Known as the "Oyster Capital of the Potomac" because of fighting just offshore during the Oyster Wars.
