The founder of Kerrville is thought to be Joshua Brown who came here in the 1840's to open a shingle making business. Kerrville was chartered in 1856 and named for Captain James Kerr, who was a friend of Joshua Brown.

Texas Heritage Living History Day
A country music festival is held each year in September. A one-day event which began in 1987 which hopes to help preserve and perpetuate the traditions of Texas music and teach of the varied cultures and heritage of Texas.
Schreiner Mansion Museum

In the restored Victorian mansion of pioneer Charles Schreiner, this museum is filled with antiques, and shows off the affluent life of the early days here.
Riverside Nature Center

Since 1972, this festival is held each year beginning on the Thursday before Memorial Day and running for 18 days. It is held at the Quiet Valley Ranch
