El Campo, Texas Historical Events

2004, July 14
My rescue by El Campo's EMT Rhonda Farrar
Place: Garner State Park
Time: 2;00 AM
Mine is short story, but one I feel I need to share with you.
My husband and I are in our fifties, had purchased a new pop-up camper and headed for Garner State Park. We were having an amazing time- the beautiful area, the water, the wildlife- totally unbelievable!! We had met some of the nicest people and we're thoroughly enjoying ourselves. On our last night there, my husband had a "seizure." "Bruce Mills and wife Judy (whom I had not met before) came over immediately to help w/my husband- Before the ambulance could arrive, and EMT named Rhonda Farrar popped in and started taking "vitals." She took complete, confident control over the situation. After the Ambulance took my husband to "Uvalde?", Ms Rhonda's job did not end there. She stayed w/me through the night-drove me around (as I'm not much of a driver) cared for me while the hospital cared for my husband. Rhonda went above and beyond the call of duty that night. She is a special woman with a very special heart!!! 'Thank you God' for sending me Rhonda and 'Thank You' Rhonda for being there!!!
Sincerely and with all my love to you,
Kathleen Matteson
