In 1741, a group of Moravians came to this area by the Lehigh River and Monocacy Creek. Part of the oldest organized Protestant denonination in the world, the Unitas Fratrum - founded in 1457, these followers gathered on Christmas Eve that year when the Moravians' patron, Count Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf of Saxony, Germany, visited.
