5 August 2014 - Man Is Shot By Police While Holding A Toy pellet Rifle. John Crawford was apparently shopping in the toy section of a department store where he had picked up a pellet rifle. A couple, also shoppers, saw Crawford and assumed the rifle was not a toy. They called the police who arrived a short time later. According to the police they ordered him to drop the gun. When he didn't comply he was shot. Crawford died later at the hospital.
