Project Read instruction for teachers
This summer, receive college graduate credits through Wayne State College and Peru State College -- 6 hours credit for the three week class (preferred); 2 hours credit for a one week class. Project Read is a reading program designed for at-risk elementary and junior high students. It utilizes direct, systematic instruction and the addition of the tactile-kinesthetic to the usual visual/auditory instruction usually used in schools today. This program has achieved great results with perceptually handicapped students, with the developmentally delayed, with students who "fall through the cracks" in eligibility for special programs, and with students with limited learning potential. This program may be used by regular classroom teachers, special education and Title 1 teachers, and for tutoring students, even those who have fallen many years behind!
