The Holdrege community has a strong Swedish heritage. It was founded in 1883 and named for George W. Holdrege, the general superintendent of the B&MR Railroad. It was incorporated in 1884

Nebraska Prairie Museum - Many exhibits including a WWII German POW Camp that was named Camp Atlanta. This display is sponsored by the Nebraska Prairie Museum under the direction of the Phelps County Historical Society.

The Promise of the Prairie Statue
Designed and cast by famous sculptor, George W. Lundeen for the city centennial in 1983. It is located in North Park.
