Here is a history page for Spindale.
In 1880, Colonel Frank Coxe built a home from which he operated an Inn along the railroad line. Spindale grew up around the Inn. By 1923, it had become a town. This home is now used as a Community House for activities in Spindale as well as a Town Hall with athletic facilities.

Spindale was named as a Millennium Community based upon its plan of ongoing Millennium initiatives. Spindale is one of only five cities in North Carolina to receive this honor.
