2000, March 25-26
The Block High School Reunion 2000 was held March 25-26, 2000. What a wonderful idea! Former students, faculty and their families were reunited with friends and memories from their past. This was a school reunion, not one specific class. Those working long hours to make sure it was a success, succeeded. There were hugs, tears of joy and much reminiscing. My favorite place was the "Old Gym", which served on this particular Saturday as a Memorabilia Room. Even after changes, I still saw it as the gym of our youth. Realizing that my 2 older sisters had once played basketball here. This was the place where Jerry Lee Lewis played on stage to a group of elementary and high school students, before fame found him. It seemed so much smaller now, but it still smelled the same. What a wonderful idea. Many thanks to the organizers and the volunteers who worked so hard to make this day a gigantic success, especially for those of us who have been away for so many years and needed this day to remember where we came from.
