Hope was founded in 1871

Here is a short excerpt from the history page named below. Much more information is on the site.
"In 1871, a group of about forty Michigan veterans and craftsmen settled in the immediate area of what would become Hope and began to plan a town site. Chief among these newcomers was Newell Thurstin, a pre-eminent merchant and founder of Hope, which is said to be named after one of his sons."

The incorporation of Hope



Hope is famous for its ladies lounge. Once, these lounges were found in many towns for the ladies to sit and visit while their husbands did business in town. As time went on, the need for them decreased. The ladies lounge in Hope has remained as a nice place to relax in town. It also has a meeting room and a public restoom. 111 N Main St
