A History for Cloverdale

A store and post office called Clover Dale (the spelling until 1855) were along a trail south from the National Road in 1836. A store and tavern were run by Moses Nelson who is usually accepted as the town's founder. Andrew T. McCoy has also been given some credit for its founding as he laid out lots on the west side in the 1830's.
