Here is a history page for Titusville.
Henry Theodore Titus came here in 1867. The first post office was opened here in 1859 and was known as Sand Point. Colonel Titus played a match of dominoes against Captain Clark Rice in 1873. The winner of the match would be able to rename the town. Obviously, the outcome was in the favor of Colonel Titus resulting in Titusville rather than Riceville!
