San Rafael is another California town which developed around a mission in the California mission chain. This mission is called Mission San Rafael Arcangel. It was the 20th in the mission chain and was built in 1817. It was rebuilt in 1949. San Rafael is the county seat for Marin County. It is famous as a trading and industrial area and it especially noted for its beautiful landscapes.
