Huachuca City location: in southeastern Arizona about 65 miles southeast of Tucson, just north of Fort Huachua on State Highway 90. Nearby communities include Whetstone, Sierra Vista, Sierra Vista Southeast, Elgin, Tombstone, St. David, Sonoita, Benson, Bisbee and Vail.

History & History Related Items

Huachuca City history:

Early on this area was known as Campstone Station. Then it became Sunset City. The Southern Pacific Railraod stopped here between Tombstone and Patagonia but later ceased the line. When Fort Huachuca reopened in 1954, this area, at the north gate of the fort, became known as Huachuca Vista. There were only a few trailers and a small store. In 1958, it was incorporated with the name, Huachuca City.
